Dear Parents/Guardians:The month of November/November 11 th , holds a special place in the hearts and minds of all Canadians as we
pause to reflect on the loss and devastation of war. The majority of us have never faced battle, but we understand the debt owed to the soldiers that fought bravely for us in two World Wars, Korea and now in Afghanistan. Canada would not be the country we enjoy today without their sacrifice.
On the afternoon of November 16, Toronto author/composer Jean Miso is coming to our school to make presentations to our grade 1 to grade 8 classes. She will talk about 2 of her books, “Their Duty, Our Pride” and “Vimy! Valour! Victory”. She will also teach our
students vocally and with the use of sign language her song “Honour and Pride”. In return, we are asking students to either purchase one of Jean’s books or bring a loonie or a toonie to school to support her charitable goal of purchasing a home for homeless veterans.
Please feel free to visit her website to learn more about Jean. www.jeanmiso.ca
After school on November 16, Jean will be at the Bayview Book Fair in the library. Her books will be available for sale and she will be
happy to visit with families or autograph copies of her book.
